The Challenge
SKF is a multinational industrial technology manufacturer in operation for more than 100 years. The company had a ball-bearing inspection process at the tail end of manufacturing. Inspectors recorded their work on paper forms, and after a full day of work, would transfer data from paper to reporting software on their laptops. This work was time consuming and upset the inspectors' work-life balance.
The Solution
Lextech collaborated with SKF to create a mobile experience that allowed inspectors to submit data directly to their reporting software, eliminating inefficiencies. The intuitive app integrated picture recording ability and annotation features that improved the quality and accuracy of recorded data.
The Result
Inspections that once took 30 minutes now took 9 – a 70% time savings. A reporting process that once took days was now streamlined enough to enable real-time decisions that helped SKF's ability to sell products. Most importantly, it gave more time for inspectors' to deliver high-value work and spend more time with their families in the evenings.
